Financial Assistance to Clubs / Schools / Sportspersons

The Financial Assistance Scheme of the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs (DSYA), Government of Kerala, stands as one of the most impactful and enduring initiatives in the state’s sports development landscape. Launched almost two decades ago with a visionary mission to strengthen Kerala’s sports ecosystem, the scheme continues to operate seamlessly and effectively—serving as a vital support mechanism for athletes, schools, and sports clubs across the state.

With the primary objective of nurturing sporting excellence, the scheme extends comprehensive financial aid for training, participation in tournaments, procurement of essential equipment, and overall sports promotion activities. It also forms the backbone of Kerala’s athlete recognition system by offering cash awards to outstanding sportspersons who bring glory to the state through their achievements at national and international arenas.

In the past five years alone (2020–2024), the scheme has disbursed an impressive ₹49 crore, directly benefiting countless institutions and individuals. Continuing its strong momentum, the year 2025 has already witnessed the distribution of nearly ₹7 crore, reaffirming the government’s unwavering commitment toward empowering talent.

Two of the most notable recent disbursements under the scheme include:

₹2 crore to Olympian P. R. Sreejesh in honour of his historic Olympic medal achievement.

₹3.57 crore awarded as cash incentives to Kerala’s medal winners at the 38th National Games, celebrating their exceptional performance and contribution to the state’s sporting prestige.

Through consistent investment and a clear vision, the Financial Assistance Scheme continues to play a transformative role in elevating Kerala’s sporting standards, motivating athletes, and shaping the future of sports in the state.
