One Playground for One Panchayath

The prestigious scheme of Government of Kerala “One Playground for One Panchayath” is been implementing through Sports Kerala Foundation. The Government of Kerala has proposed to develop at least one play ground in each panchayath and in other rural areas under the scheme “One Playground for One Panchayath”. It is the important projects implemented by the Sports Department are the development of rural playgrounds. The benefits of the project are intangible in nature. It mainly focuses the parameters like health, wellness and happiness of the society. Improved social interaction is an added benefit of the project. It helps the youth to stay away from the social evils like liquors, drugs, communal and other fractional divide etc.

Under the One Panchayat One Playground project, 50% of the amount required for one playground (maximum Rs. 50 lakhs) is allocated as the Sports Department's project share and the remaining amount is allocated from the Asset Development Fund of the People's Representatives, Local Self-Government Institutions and Social Commitment Funds of various institutions. As per the recommendations of the people's representatives, the amended list of 124 playgrounds in the first phase for the One Panchayat One Playground project has been approved by the government. Accordingly, the work of 10 playgrounds has been completed. The Sports and Youth Affairs Director has given comprehensive administrative approval for 78 playgrounds Out of these, 68 works are progressing at various stages.

In the second phase 8 playgrounds are included and in 2025-26 financial year 36 playgrounds are also included.
