P R Sreejesh Felicitation – 2023

P. R. Sreejesh, one of India’s most celebrated hockey players and an iconic goalkeeper, has been a pillar of Indian hockey for over a decade. Hailing from Kerala, Sreejesh’s exceptional reflexes, leadership, and consistency have earned him global recognition, including being named the FIH Goalkeeper of the Year multiple times. His contributions were instrumental in India securing an Olympic medal in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and later he again secured another bronze medal in the Paris Olympics 2024, bringing immense pride to the nation and especially to his home state.

In honour of this outstanding achievement, the Sports Department, Government of Kerala, organized a grand felicitation programme celebrating P. R. Sreejesh’s Olympic medal success in November 2023. Sreejesh was also awarded an amount of Rs. 2 Cr as cash award for these remarkable achievements in the programme. The event highlighted his remarkable journey, discipline, and dedication that continue to inspire thousands of young athletes across the state. Senior officials, dignitaries, athletes, and members of the sporting community attended the function to congratulate Sreejesh and acknowledge his invaluable contributions to Indian sports. The programme served not only as a tribute to his personal excellence but also as a reaffirmation of Kerala’s commitment to supporting and nurturing world-class sporting talent.
