Kick Drugs Campaign

Drug-Free Kerala is a program implemented by the government in view of the need to mobilize the entire country to tackle the extremely serious social problem of increasing use of drugs among the youth and children of Kerala and the emergence of new ways of selling and distributing them. In the program organized by the state government, it was decided to implement a comprehensive health and physical education program in schools to reduce the violence and use of drugs among school children, and as part of this, sports activities should be implemented along with sports. The Sports Department is also participating in these programs implemented by the government with the coordination of various departments, aiming at a healthy future generation. The Sports Department intends to implement a program named "Kick Drugs-Roadshow and Statewide Campaign" with the great objective of attracting the young generation to the sports sector and keeping them away from drug use with the determination that the new generation should not drift into drugs. The main contents of the program are as follows.

  1. Road shows
  2. Anti-drug campaigns
  3. Marathons
  4. Anti-drug awareness journey
  5. Exhibition of various sports
  6. Distributing sports kits
  7. Hold discussions with sports associations and prominent figures in the sports sector
  8. Expand the activities of Panchayat Sports Councils

As part of the anti-drug campaign to activate playgrounds as part of anti-drug activities, the journey will start from Kasaragod on May 5 and will tour all the districts under the leadership of the Hon'ble Sports Minister and will conclude in Ernakulam district on May 22. The Hon'ble Sports Minister will hold discussions with prominent figures in the sports sector at three places in each district. Discussions will be held with the office bearers of the associations working in the sports sector regarding the expansion of the activities of various associations in each district, the expansion of activities at all levels of society and the plans to be implemented in the future for the development of the sports sector in the state. In cooperation with the local self-government institutions, it is intended to revive at least one playground in each panchayat that is lying in the forest and unusable and distributing sports kits.
